Psyllium husk is an effective herb used to lose weight and in maintaining general intestinal health.

The original Indian psyllium seeds (plantago ovata) are the seeds of a centuries-old cultivated plant belonging to the plantain species. Ground psyllium husks have a higher swelling rate than whole psyllium husks. The finely ground psyllium husks are able to retent large volumes of water (45 times its own weight).
